Hugh James has retained its strong performance in this year’s UK leading directories for law firms and solicitors – with excellent ratings in the Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners, plus recognition in the Times list of the 200 best law firms for 2022.
The latest Legal 500, published in October, ranked us as a top-tier firm across 12 practice areas and recommended in 21. A total of 67 Hugh James lawyers are mentioned by name in the commentary for their standout contribution to respective practices. We have 26 lawyers named as ‘leading individuals,’ with eight Partners singled out as ‘next generation lawyers’ and eight Associates listed as ‘rising stars’. The firm also received excellent ratings in the Chambers and Partners leading guide to UK solicitors 2022. Overall, we achieved 24 departmental rankings, with 47 lawyers ranked as individuals. We retained band 1 rankings in 10 departments, as well as 12 rankings in band 2 and two in band 3.
We were also delighted to be featured again in this year’s Times newspaper list of the top 200 legal practices in England and Wales.
The survey, which is in its fourth year, is compiled in association with Statista, an international market research firm. It asks solicitors and barristers in England and Wales to recommend the best law firms in any of 26 categories covering business, public and private-client fields. To make sure the survey is fair, respondents are not allowed to choose their own law firm, and technology and other scrutiny is put in place to prevent anyone from voting more than once.
