James Gibson joined Hugh James in 2007 after graduating from Exeter University and Cardiff University Law School.

James is a Partner at Hugh James specialising in group litigation and international asbestos-related disease claims. Having been appointed as a lead solicitor in a number of complex and high-profile group litigation actions, James has successfully settled hundreds of personal injury claims and recovered millions of pounds in compensation for clients over the past 14 years.

James is Joint Co-Ordinator of the Multi-Party Actions specialist interest group of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL). He is also a member of the Collective Redress Lawyers Association which aims to share best practice amongst those involved in claimant group litigation.

Work history

James became a partner with Hugh James in 2017. He joined as a trainee at Hugh James in 2007. He went on to qualify in 2009 before advancing through associate (2013), senior associate (2015) and partner (2017).
