We have successfully advised the British Mountaineering Council (BMC) on its recent partnership with HotelPlanner, driving additional income back into the organisation through profit share and providing discounted accommodation to its members.
HotelPlanner is a leading travel technology platform and hotel booking search engine. The new 4-year partnership supports BMC’s travel needs from international expeditions to domestic and regional competitions, as well as complementing BMC travel insurance and the importance of travelling sustainably. Additionally, BMC will receive profit-share on any bookings made through the limited-access portals. This means more income put back into the organisation, playing an important role in supporting the work of the BMC, including recent policy work on the “Outdoors For All” manifesto to reduce barriers to accessing the outdoors.
Head of Sport, Mark Loosemore advised on the innovative, revenue-generating and cost-saving deal for the BMC, one of a growing roster of British sport national governing bodies turning to our firm for legal advice.
Speaking of the advice they received during a transformative time for BMC, Chief Commercial Officer, Gavin Finch, commented:
“As an evolving rights holder we have spent some time developing an exciting commercial partner programme and as we begin to take this proposition to the wider market its imperative we have support in place to deliver robust and cost-effective contractual support for all levels of our commercial partnership opportunities. Mark Loosemore and Hugh James have provided the flexibility we require without compromising quality and expertise.”
Mark added:
“I am delighted to have supported the BMC with legal input on the development of their commercial partner programme and, in particular, to have helped them negotiate and finalise this significant new deal with HotelPlanner which directly supports the climbing, walking and mountaineering community, putting revenue back into the sport and directly into the pockets of those booking accommodation while doing what they love.”
