In this week’s podcast Alan and Danielle speak with Sheanna Patelmaster and Lucy Pincott, the founders of Yours In Scouting about the reasons for setting up this website and current campaign following their abuse by scout leaders. Yours in Scouting is supported by The Good Law Project.

There are three main goals;

  1. To be heard
  2. Take action
  3. Create accountability

We discuss the barriers they have faced whilst trying to raise safeguarding concerns with the scouts organisation and what led them to set up this campaign and website. The website allows individuals to post their experiences anonymously. The aim is to have paid safeguarding lead positions in each scout county in the United Kingdom. The team are calling on the UK Government through their petition, to hold The Scouts Association accountable to protect those who have been harmed whilst in their care.

If you would like to contact the Yours in Scouting team, please email organiser@yoursinscouting.org.

We encourage anyone who has concerns about sexual abuse to get in touch. You can contact Alan Collins at alan.collins@hughjames.com or Danielle Vincent at danielle.vincent@hughjames.com.
