The Hugh James licensing team has supported True Swing Ltd in securing a premises license to open a second golf-themed venue, this time in Bristol.
The company is jointly owned by 4 Directors, including the footballer, Gareth Bale. The group are establishing indoor leisure golfing centres under the Par59 trading name. With a site already open in Cardiff, this latest premises is due to open next to Lane7 in Bristol’s Harbourside in the autumn.
True Swing Ltd instructed Hugh James to prepare and submit a premises licence application for its next indoor golf centre and prepare for a contentious hearing. The application faced representations from Responsible Authorities and heavy local objection, as reported in the news, including on BBC Online.
The specialist legal team instructed Counsel, Professor Roy Light of St John’s Chambers, to represent the applicant at the hearing because of his experience and expertise in contentious licensing matters. This resulted in a positive outcome for the client with the grant of the premises licence.
Martin Jones, Hugh James’s Head of Regulatory said:
“We were pleased to act for Par59 in the application & were grateful to the licensing sub-committee for recognising the professionalism of Par59 as an operator. We would also like to thank our Counsel, Roy Light of St Johns Chambers for his excellent contribution in securing a positive outcome for our client.”
