Hugh James has signed a long-term agreement with ARAG to use the legal expenses provider’s after-the-event (ATE) insurance products for a broad range of case types, across several practice areas.
The agreement will see ARAG provide ATE insurance for thousands of Hugh James clients each year and marks the culmination of a long-running tender process and negotiation that had to be completed within the constraints of the Coronavirus lockdown.
Hugh James will use carefully tailored versions of ARAG’s Recourse Options and Recourse Complete products to insure costs risks in the firm’s clinical negligence, industrial disease and other personal injury cases, as well as for data protection, environmental and various other non-personal injury claims.
Stephen Webber, Divisional Head, Individual Client Services at Hugh James commented:
“Financial security and proven products are vital to ensure that, first and foremost our clients, but also our firm remain properly protected. ARAG clearly ticks all of the boxes and has a reputation for delivering great service, so we are looking forward to building a successful partnership with them.”
“Putting together a matrix of solutions to meet the wide-ranging needs of such a large and successful law firm is always going to be a challenge,” added ARAG’s ATE UK Sales Manager, Mike Knight. “So, we are very pleased that we have been able to build a partnership that will help thousands of the firm’s clients.”
“The market for ATE insurance has coped with long periods of uncertainty and access to justice is coming under even greater pressure now. ARAG is committed to ensuring that people and businesses are not denied justice because they cannot afford to pursue it, and this arrangement will enable Hugh James to do that for thousands of cases.”
