Hugh James has been named property law firm of the year at the Insider Property Awards 2019. This is the fourth time in last seven years that the team has won this award.
The 63-strong team comprises 14 partners, the largest property team based in Wales, with clients including Crown Estate, S.A. Brain & Co. Ltd, Celtic Manor Resort, Bellway Homes and Welsh Government.
Peter Hurn, Head of Commercial Property said:
“We’re delighted to have been recognised with this award. The team has had a fantastic 12 months and has been involved in some exciting projects. The landscape of Cardiff and Wales is changing dramatically and we’re pleased to have been at the forefront of this not only in terms of our new office location in Central Square but by working with our clients on many of their iconic deals and projects. The Welsh commercial property sector is going from strength to strength and we can’t wait to see what the next 12 months have in store as the development and investment continues.”
Hugh James was also involved in the project that won Deal of the Year: the Westgate Street hotel deal between Rightacres and the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU).
Hugh James advised its long standing client WRU on a joint venture with Rightacres and Legal & General which will transform two of Cardiff’s most iconic buildings into a luxury hotel on Westgate Street and will be known as the Westgate Hotel.
