The Limbless Association’s Cardiff Support Hub is celebrating its one-year anniversary.
The Limbless Association (LA) is a national charity that offers information, advice and support for amputees, their family, friends, and professionals. Hugh James is proud to work closely with the charity and be appointed to its Welsh Legal Panel.
On 3 November 2022, the first support hub in Wales opened its doors to amputees within the community and their loved ones. The Cardiff Support Hub continues to take place monthly and offers an informal environment for individuals to access information and support from the charity’s outreach team, and from each other.
Katie McCraith, Partner in the Clinical Negligence Team said:
“I was very fortunate to take part in the very first Cardiff Hub, and have been a regular attendee ever since. Hugh James is proud to be part of the Limbless Association network and offer advice and support. My tea making skills have come into their own, and it’s wonderful to be part of such a welcoming community group.”
We ensure at least one of our experienced solicitors attends the Cardiff Support Hub every month to lend an ear and support where needed.
Anu Manda, Solicitor in the Serious Injury Team, said:
“We enjoy attending the sessions, getting to know the regulars, and meeting the new attendees each month. We know that post-amputation life can initially be lonely and overwhelming. The LA support hubs offer a friendly and welcoming environment with no expectations and supporters willing to listen and offer advice. There are always hot drinks, cakes and a seated yoga session which leaves everyone feeling refreshed (if a bit sleepy!) after each session. It’s a great source of support.”
The Cardiff 1st Anniversary Support Hub will take place on Thursday 9 November 2023 at Cardiff Heath Citizen’s Hall.
The national charity also celebrates its 40th birthday this year marked by a celebration lunch and the Lives Beyond Limb Loss Awards ceremony.
