Our first virtual Spinal Injury Seminar was hosted by Cari Sowden-Taylor & Ciaran McCabe, both Partners in the Catastrophic Injury Claims Team here at Hugh James. The focus for the seminar was Emotional Adjustment after Spinal Cord Injury.
We were joined by Gary Dawson, a Support Manager at the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA), who shared his personal experience of the life changing injuries he suffered after an accident on his motorcycle as a teenager. We were also joined by Ian Younghusband, who is the Counselling and Wellbeing Officer at the SIA. Ian discussed the support services that the SIA offer to people with spinal cord injuries and their families.
Principle Clinical Psychologist at the Midland Centre for Spinal Injuries, Dr Sally Kaiser, also joined us to talk about the psychological support provided in a specialist Spinal Centre, and how they help people to adjust to their injuries.
Our three speakers were also involved in our live Q&A session at the end of the Seminar.
