The specialist asbestos claims team at Hugh James have been instructed to pursue a civil compensation claim by Mrs Pauline Cave on behalf of her late husband Edward Cave.
Edward worked for the vehicle repair company Harveys Coachworks between 1959 and 1994. The building was based in Ayres Yard on Station Road in Wallingford. The yard had multiple building units. The adjacent unit to Harveys Coachworks was Unit 4, initially a cash and carry and later, Thames Fixings.
Edward worked on vehicle repairs and as a paint sprayer. Mrs Cave believes that her husband was exposed to asbestos when he was undertaking repairs on accident damaged vehicles which needed to be stripped and rebuilt. This involved stripping out brake linings which contained asbestos.
We are looking for any former colleagues who can confirm how exposure arose at the time and ideally anyone who worked in Harveys Coachworks at the same time as Edward. If you worked with Edward at any point during his time at Harveys Coachworks and recall being exposed to asbestos or have any other information relating to asbestos exposure in Ayres Yard, please consider contacting us to assist with his claim.
Sadly, Edward Cave died from the asbestos related condition, mesothelioma in July 2022 before he contacted a solicitor.
