Witness Appeal: Mr Ian Farquharson

Our specialist sexual abuse solicitors at Hugh James are investigating allegations that a teacher, Ian Farquharson, sexually abused pupils at Formby High School in Merseyside.

Ian Farquharson abused his position as a teacher and head of lower school for several years between the 1980’s – 1990’s before he committed suicide in1992.

Ian Farquharson had previously been charged with inciting young boys to commit acts of gross indecency in 1980. He was cleared of that charge at Crosby Magistrates Court alleging the allegations were malicious and was then able to continue teaching for over a decade.

The culture at the time of the abuse was not to speak out about child abuse. We frequently see survivors who are only able to speak out about the abuse they suffered years after it took place especially when there has been a period of grooming from a person in a position of trust. We are therefore seeking evidence in support of my client’s case.

If you or anyone you know was sexually abused by Ian Farquharson and are willing to assist or would like to have an informal discussion, please contact Danielle Vincent on 07966738012 or by email Danielle.vincent@hughjames.com.

We want to reassure all those who contact us we will deal with this in a sensitive and confidential matter.
