Alun heads up the subrogated recovery team and advises both insurers and large corporates on high value/complex subrogated recovery claims. Alun’s advice expands across the spectrum of perils, including high value/complex impact, escape of water, flood, fire, landslip and subsidence.
As part of his role, Alun leads a team of five lawyers specialising in recovering outlays for insurers, with a particular focus on losses, in the construction industry.
Alun has experience in advising on construction law and has prepared and negotiated contractual documentation on a wide variety of projects and advises on building contracts, parent company guarantees, performance bonds, appointments, collateral warranties, PFI, PPP and associated documentation.
Alun acts for construction professionals such as architects, engineers and quantity surveyors, as well as advising contractors, sub-contractors, developers and public authorities.
Alun specialises in major loss claims in the construction industry, including fire and flood involving multi-million-pound losses. He is also highly regarded for his pragmatic approach bringing and defending professional negligence claims within the construction industry.
Work History
Attending the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, Alun graduated in Law and French in 1997. He then qualified as a Solicitor with DAC Beachcroft LLP in 2001, where he gained experience in contentious and non-contentious Construction matters for the next 7 years. In 2008, Alun joined Hugh James as a Senior Associate and went on to become a Partner in May 2012.
Alun is a Welsh speaker and is able to advise clients through the medium of Welsh.
Alun is a member of the Professional Negligence Lawyers Association and Constructing Excellence.
