Kevin is a partner in our Dispute Resolution team and joined Hugh James in May 2020. He has more than 20 years’ experience acting on behalf of banking and lender clients, businesses and individuals, in a wide range of complex and high-value professional negligence and liability claims.
Kevin joins us from JCP Solicitors, where he led the firm’s Lender Services and Professional Liability claims teams. Kevin has acted for many “high street” retail mortgage lenders in claims against solicitors and valuers, concerning defective security and valuation issues, and mortgage fraud. In recent years he has developed a growing reputation acting on behalf of specialist lenders in claims arising from high-value short-term lending and development funding. On behalf of businesses and individual clients, Kevin has expertise in claims arising from corporate/commercial and property transactions, having successfully concluded numerous cases concerning multi-million-pound transactions.
His in-depth knowledge and experience also includes many claims concerning allegations of breach of trust and conflicts of interest arising from property and commercial transactions and litigation matters.
Ranked as a leading individual in the field of professional negligence by industry bible the Legal 500, Kevin’s thorough, knowledgeable, and commercially sensible approach is singled out in the latest Chamber and Partners directory. He is also an accredited mediator, with 17 years’ experience mediating a range of civil and commercial disputes.

- Successfully settled a claim on behalf of a specialist lender, against valuers, arising from a £10m valuation of a residential development site.
- Acted for a specialist lender in successfully defending a claim in which the lender’s charge to secure a £2m loan for a residential development site, was challenged by a previous lender who claimed its charge had been removed in error.
- Recovered substantial damages for clients in a claim against solicitors arising from the multi-million-pound sale of the clients’ company.
