Overview
Rebecca is an associate in the Group Actions team specialising in environmental matters and works with partners Stephanie Eedy, Gwen Evans and Neil Stockdale.
Rebecca specialises in group actions on behalf of communities across England and Wales affected by various forms of environmental nuisance as well as homeowners of blighted properties, devalued by road or airport expansions.
Rebecca represents groups of residents in nuisance actions who experience odour, noise or dust nuisance at their properties, often acting against large companies, securing compensation for residents and more importantly an end to the nuisance that they experience.
Rebecca also acts for groups of homeowners who wish to take action under Part 1 of the Land Compensation Act 1973, claiming compensation to reflect loss of value to their properties as a result of increased physical factors such as noise, vibration, smell, fumes, smoke or artificial lighting, caused by certain road developments or airport expansions.
Work history
Rebecca has been a member of the team since June 2012. Rebecca qualified as a solicitor in March 2017 and became an Associate solicitor within the firm in March 2019.
Rebecca has played a central role in securing settlements for numerous affected communities in both nuisance and under Part 1 of the Land Compensation Act. Her litigation experience has seen successful judgements obtained for clients in the Upper Tribunal (Lands Chamber) as well as experience in matters appealed to the Court of Appeal.
In addition to her continuing involvement in a number of nuisance group actions, acting on behalf of hundreds of residents within affected communities in the UK, Rebecca continues to take a leading role in Part 1 claims investigated and dealt with by this firm.
Within the last 12 months she has been the lead solicitor working alongside Partner Neil Stockdale overseeing claims brought under Part 1 of the Land Compensation Act 1973, including proceedings in the Upper Tribunal (Lands Chamber) brought on behalf of 190 claimants in respect of expansion works at London Southend airport, upon which judgement is currently awaited.
