Overview
How do I know my architect has been negligent?
We understand the complexities of bringing a claim against a negligent architect who may be instructed by both companies and individuals to carry out a variety of different tasks, from designing plans for a building and supervising the building work, to obtaining planning permission for a project. If the architect does not carry out his or her work to the required standard it can result in the project being delayed and you incurring significant additional costs, or even in the total collapse of the proposed works. This can be frustrating especially as you will have invested a lot of time and money into the building. If you feel that your architect has been negligent, you may have grounds to bring a claim.
There are a number of circumstances in which an architect may have been negligent, including:
- providing incorrect advice
- drafting inadequate building plans or project preparation documents
- failing to obtain planning permission
- failing to keep a project within a specified budget
- recommending the wrong material for the project
- failing adequately to supervise the builder or contractors
